Excerpts from a letter to Captain Harry Roy of the Royal Highland Fusiliers Museum from the Chairman of the 602 Squadron Museum Association –
‘We are extremely grateful for your hospitality in hosting the 602 Museum over the past 18 years when we were required to find a new home, as a result of the Rolls-Royce site at Hillington closing in 2005. The first museum was founded there in 1983 and housed by the company’s ATC Squadron.
Our initial host was the late Major Willie Shaw followed by Col. Bobby Steele and latterly by your good self. We are extremely grateful for your generosity and to that of Mrs. Joyce Steele, Charlie, Lisa and Linda who have been so helpful and accommodating over that time.Fortunately, the memorabilia is now with the reformed 602 Squadron and some back with the founding ATC squadron with both planning to create an exhibit at their HQ.
Ian MacDonald – Chairman, 602 Squadron Museum Association, 2023
Thank you very much indeed for your generosity over all those years. ‘
