Irene MacLean - Women's Auxiliary Air Force
Irene MacLean joined the Women's Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF) aged 19. During the war she was based in England, Wales and Palestine. She met her future husband, Neil MacLean, who went on to become an officer in the RAuxAF, during her service and has made the RAF a family tradtion. She has three children serving in the RAF, her two sons are Wing Commanders, and her daughter is a Flight Lieutenant.
