SLIDE 8 - 'Those Blenheims are Germans!'
Green Section Was vectored towards a possible intruder heading North and were eventually recalled from Peterhead area with no contact. Running low on fuel they were given permission to land at RAF Leuchars, a Coastal Command base. Red Section took over the patrol at Crail.
While at lunch the air raid sirens sounded and all personnel took shelter. The 602 pilots could not get into shelter so they sat on the grass mound around it. Sandy Johnstone queried where all the Blenheims were going as he looked across the Firth. Douglas Farquhar took up the query with Operations to discover that ' those Blenheims are Germans '. KG 30 had arrived.
